The purpose of this seminar is to discuss joint assessment,manipulation, treatment, soft tissue treatment and dynamic neuromuscular stabilization approaches utilized for the lumbar spine and pelvis. There are (4) practical, hands-on sessions thatinclude discussion, assessment and demonstration of the applicable techniques. There is also a 2-hour lecture on how diet, stress, and lack of sleep can promote chronic inflammation and pain, which can negatively impact treatment of lumbar spine conditions and sports injuries.

• Understand the kinetic chain and how it relates to athletic movement and the lumbar spine
• Understand the indications for treatment based upon the assessment findings
• Understand how and when to apply the treatments demonstrated
• Understand the necessary components of a systematic evaluationof the lumbar spine
• Understand the implications of neurological testing vs joint testing vs motor control
• Understand why certain anatomical variances may mislead the clinician if not taking a systematic approach
• Understand the pertinent anatomy and biomechanics of the lumbar spine and pelvis
• Be able to accurately palpate muscular anatomy of the lumbar spine and pelvis
• Understand the difference between neurological and structural hypomobility
• Implement soft tissue treatments for the lumbar spine and pelvis
• Understand trigger point categorization and relevant referral patterns
• Understand the foundation of Dynamic Neuromusculoskeletal Stabilization (DNS) and how it can be utilized in the management of the lumbar spine
• Understand how to use certain DNS positions to activate the inner unit of the spine
• Outline the differences between nociceptive and neuropathic pain
• Understand the relationship between chronic inflammation and pain
• Describe how stress, sleep loss, and a pro-inflammatory diet induce a chronic inflammatory state
• Provide lifestyle recommendations and strategies for reducing lifestyle-induced chronic inflammation and pain

Cancellation Fee - Cancellation fee is $35.00 with written notification to MPI required.
