The purpose of this program is to prepare chiropractors to utilize static and dynamic palpation assessments of cervical, thoracic, and shoulder complex joints and surrounding soft tissues. Posture and functional testing will be taught as part of a thorough examination. Emphasis will be placed on the interpretation of the assessment findings and how to correlate this information with other historical and examination data. Treatment options in the form of diversified adjustive procedures and rehabilitation methods of the cervicothoracic area and shoulder complex will be discussed and demonstrated. We will also provide a brief overview of cellular response to soft tissue injuries with relation to tissue alteration after performing an Active Release Treatment (ART) treatment protocol, perform hands-on shoulder-related treatment protocols, and learn how to use biomechanics to determine the source of the injury.

By the end of the program, the attendee will be able to:

• Understand the fundamentals of joint complex dysfunction.
• Perform static and dynamic joint assessments including palpation of the surrounding soft tissues of the cervical spine, thoracic spine and shoulder complex.
• Understand how to perform and interpret the findings of functional movement tests of the cervical and thoracic spine and shoulder complex.
• Understand how posture impacts joint complex dysfunction and pain syndromes.
• Understand the indications and contraindications of utilizing various adjustive procedures for the cervical, thoracic and shoulder regions.
• Effectively differentiate healthy verses unhealth tissue within the shoulder region.
• Apply adequate depth and tension when performing manual therapeutic intervention.
• Properly perform five shoulder-related ART protocols.
• Adequately define the motion that causes pain or dysfunction.
